Each Board has its own pros & cons and the choice of the board totally depends on a student as to what he /she needs.

CBSE:-

(Central Board of Secondary Education)  

If your focus is mainly on entrance examinations after class 12th like IIT or AIEEE then go for CBSE. 

It gives enough knowledge to clear the entrance exam after class 12th as most entrance exams are based on CBSE. 

Overall, it comes a close second after ICSE, but many prefer this board as it is easily available in India. For students whose parents are in transferable jobs should choose CBSE. As CBSE offers continuity of curriculum across India.

Its syllabus is very structured, highly predictable & highly controlled. 

Act national entrance exams are conducted as per CBSE.

Ø A number of changes have been incorporated lately, the prominent decision being to make board exams at the end of grade-10 optional.

ADVANTAGES: - 

CBSE: - Easy to find schools in any area, even abroad, due to the wide prevalence of CBSE board which makes it preferable for people the transferrable jobs.

Ø Syllabus of CBSE is more suitable for various entrance exams after the 12th.  Most competitive exams follow CBSE, IIT –JEE, AIEEE, AIPMT, etc.

DISADVANTAGES: -

CBSE: - It uses CBSE as a grading system (continuous & comprehensive evaluation). 

Grade system is unfair...-   

90-99- A1.

The student who scroes 90 aslo get A1 and the student who scores 99 also gets A1 - which is unfair. 

Ø Not much focus is laid on practical knowledge in students the subjects in CBSE are approached in a theoretical manner & true emphasis is not laid on real-life concepts.


ICSE:-

(Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) 

It offers overall grooming & development, then ICSE should be the 1st choice but because of its extensive syllabus CBSE is preferred more.

It has more application-based syllabus with the ability to think out of the box.


ADVANTAGES: - 

ICSE: - There are more subjects to choose from in class 12th, compared to CBSE. 

ICSE is more turned to giving practical knowledge & teaching practical analytical skills.

Ø Syllabus followed by ICSE is relatively more comprehensive & complete encompassing all fields the equal importance.

Ø Certificate under ICSE is recognized around the world, particularly by foreign schools & universities.


DISADVANTAGES: -

ICSE: -  ICSE is in English only.

  • Syllabus is more detailed & requires students to learn & remember a lot.
  • Any student may find it too extensive.
  • An offshoot of Cambridge IGCSE that was expected during the British regime was taken over by and to the Indian board and is now governed by ICSE.

Ø At grade 10 as of now is the toughest exam.

                   ICSE –Grade 10

                   ISC –Grade 12



IB: - (International Board )   

           Not preferable scarcity of schools in India.

Ø Focuses on the overall development of students but does not fit with the other Indian boards & therefore not useful in India for national entrance exams.

Ø This is an option for those who wish to study abroad or whose parents are transferred globally.

 

SB 

The syllabus is comparatively simple hence, it makes easier for students to go ahead.

Its very affordable and also easy to find coaching for higher grades.

They try to accommodate even those students with lower IQs to complete their schooling successfully.

In SB, the local language of a particular state is taught.

The state-level competitive exam follows the syllabus of SB.

SB needs to focus more on the pratical aspect of the subjects that are taught.

If one aims for a specific state-level competition exam, then SB may be opted for.

     

   ADVANTAGES: - 

STATE BOARD: - They try to accommodate even those students with lower IQs to complete their schooling successfully.

SB is pocket friendly and hence can cater to the large part of society with mediocre economical background.


Ø  In SB, the local language of a particular state is taught.

Ø State-level competitive exam follows the syllabus of SB.


DISADVANTAGES: -

STATE: - 

The Quality of SB is relatively not good infrastructure & teaching method is generally poor & redundant.

Ø SSC / HSC systems severely lag behind in impacting communication 

    The syllabus earlier was quite outdated but now it is equally matched to the other boards.


    The teaching pattern hasn't changed much, which needs to change.


    Exposure in terms of extra subjects is the major drawback of SB.
