What do you mean by Routine?

The usual order and way in which you regularly do things.
Everyone needs a routine to make the work smooth.

Routine should be made in such a way that it is convenient to all the family members and very importantly keeping the child in mind.

What to include in daily routine?

Six important routine habits :
1. Wake up time
2. Bathing time
3. Meal time
4. Nap time
5. Playtime
6. Bedtime.

Effects of a disturbed or irregular routine on a child?

1. Poor sleep
2. Poor eating
3. Poor physical condition
4. Behavioural changes
5. Extreme reactions take place like : ( screaming , tantrums , pushing , and occasional violent behaviours )
6. Research shows that disturbed routines affect the social and emotional development of a child.


How does an organized routine help a child and everyone in the family?


*It gives a sense of consistency and security in the house.
* If you have a schedule everyone knows what has to be done.
* Routine helps the child to be organized. * Routine makes you work as a Partner. * Routine helps the child to make his own time table .

Important tips to note for a good routine

Be a little flexible and considerate to your routine

Children are developing at this age and they are learning new things , so give them time to adjust.
Sometimes there are certain changes in the situation, like -
New sibling
Change of a new house
Change of a new school
Change of friends
Guest in the family
Functions in the family
Sickness of the child or anyone in the family
Travelling- etc.....

All these things affect on a child's mind and we have to be considerate towards these.


A perfect balance of maintaining of good routine and being flexible whenever and wherever needed will help.
