How To Teach Your Child Tall And Short?


Teaching children about tall and short is one of the easiest mathematics concepts.

Even kids enjoy learning how to compare two or more things and then figure out if it’s tall or short. 

There are different ways in which you can teach your child about tall and short. 

First, start with the meaning of what tall and short mean. 

Next, explain the two terms to them with the help of everyday examples.

Activities To Teach Your Kids About Tall And Short

Here are some fun activities on tall and short for preschoolers to learn and understand the concept.


1. Draw & Tell






You can draw two trees on paper, one small and one big. 

Now ask your child to compare the two trees and colour the taller tree. 

Similarly try drawing other objects and now ask the child to compare.


2. Circle The Smaller Object





Take a print of a few pair’s of objects (one taller and one smaller) on a piece of paper. 

Now, ask your child to circle the smaller objects in each pair.


3. Stack It Up





Give your child building blocks and ask them to make two buildings, one smaller than the other. 

This is a great way to teach your child tall and short while they are busy playing.


4. Take Them Shopping




Take your little one shopping with you. You can ask them to pick up a small bottle or a big bottle of an item. 

Let them take a call on what’s tall and what’s small.


5. Compare The Phones




Collect all the cell phones at home and ask your child to arrange them from taller to shorter, based on their height.


6. Compare The Animals




Show your child animals or any other pictures from books and ask them to tell which shorter or taller than the other.

After learning the concept of tall and short, your child will be able to tell the difference between the two. 

It will also help your child to understand an important maths concept that they will also study later as a part of their academic curriculum.
