Here's a story about the importance of family for kindergarten:

Benny's Big Hug

Benny the Bear loved his family. One day, Benny's mom was feeling sad.

Benny asked, "Mom, what's wrong?"

Mom said, "I'm just feeling a little down today."

Benny thought for a moment, then gave his mom a big hug!

Mom smiled and said, "That made me feel so much better, Benny. I love you."

Benny said, "I love you too, Mom."

Then, Benny's dad, brother, and sister all came over and gave Mom a big hug too!

Mom felt happy and loved again.

Benny learned that family is important because they love and support each other.

Question for Discussion

1. Why was Benny's mom feeling sad?

2. How did Benny make his mom feel better?

3. Why is family important to you?
