Value Education - Respect
What is Respect?
Respect is when we treat others the way we want to be treated. It's being kind, considerate, and polite to everyone.
Why is Respect Important?
Respect is important because:
1. It makes others feel happy and valued.
2. It helps us make friends and have good relationships.
3. It shows we care about others' feelings.
4. It makes our classroom and playground a happy place.
How Can We Show Respect?
We can show respect in many ways:
1. Saying please, thank you, and excuse me.
2. Listening to others and waiting for our turn.
3. Being gentle and kind to others.
4. Using good manners (e.g., covering mouth when coughing).
5. Respecting others' belongings and space.
Respect is a Two-Way Street
When we show respect to others, they are more likely to show respect to us!
Remember
Respect is like a special gift we give to others to show we care.

The Magic Word: Please
Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived a little rabbit named Rosie. Rosie loved to play with her friends and explore the village.
One day, while playing in the park, Rosie saw a beautiful ball lying on the ground. She wanted to play with it, but it belonged to her friend, Siya.
Rosie remembered what her mother had taught her: "When you want something that belongs to someone else, always say 'please'."
So, Rosie approached Siya and said, "Siya, may I please play with your ball?"
Siya smiled and said, "Of course, Rosie! You may play with my ball."
Rosie was thrilled and played with the ball happily. When she finished, she said, "Thank you, Siya!" and returned the ball to her.
Siya's mother, who was watching from a distance, was proud of Rosie for using the magic word "please" and for being respectful.
From that day on, Rosie made sure to always use the magic word "please" and to respect her friends' belongings.
Questions for Discussion
1. What did Rosie want to play with in the park?
2. What did Rosie say to Siya to ask for permission to play with the ball?
3. Why is it important to say "please" and "thank you"?
4. Can you think of a time when you used the magic word "please"?
