Value Education - Sleep & Rest

Why Do We Need Sleep?

Just like our toys need batteries to work, our bodies need sleep to rest and recharge!

When we sleep, our bodies:

- Fix any ouchies or boo-boos

- Help us grow strong and healthy

- Make us feel happy and fresh for the next day

What Happens When We Don't Get Enough Sleep?

If we don't get enough sleep, we might:

- Feel grumpy or tired

- Have trouble paying attention or learning new things

- Get sick more easily

How Can We Get Good Sleep?

To get good sleep, we can:

- Go to bed at the same time every night

- Make our bedroom dark, quiet, and cozy

- Avoid playing with screens before bedtime

- Get comfortable and snuggly in our beds

Why Do We Need Rest?

Rest is like a special kind of sleep that helps our bodies and minds relax and recharge.

We can rest by:

- Taking a nap or lying down quietly

- Doing quiet activities, like reading or drawing

- Taking deep breaths and calming our minds

Discussion Points:

1. Why do you think sleep is important?

2. What's your favorite thing to do before bedtime?

3. How do you feel when you don't get enough sleep?

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand the importance of sleep and rest

2. Recognize the benefits of getting enough sleep

3. Develop healthy sleep habits and routines

Here's a story for kindergarten students about Health & Hygiene:

Bobby's Sleepy Time

Bobby the Bear loved to play outside with his friends. But one day, Bobby started to feel very tired.

"Mom, I'm so sleepy," Bobby said.

"That's because you've been playing all day, Bobby," Mom said. "It's time for sleep."

Bobby went to bed and snuggled under the blankets. He closed his eyes and soon fell fast asleep.

The next morning, Bobby woke up feeling fresh and happy.

"Mom, I had the best sleep ever!" Bobby exclaimed.

"I'm so glad, Bobby," Mom said. "Sleep helps our bodies grow strong and healthy."

Bobby learned that sleep is important for our bodies and minds.
